COMPATIBILITY
iSEM ensures comprehensive compatibility with Apple’s AudioUnit v3, Inter-App Audio, AudioBus 3, Korg’s WIST, and Apple’s CoreMIDI. It fully supports the Audio Unit Extension format, allowing it to be directly launched within any compatible Audio Unit host applications.

DESCRIPTION
The iSEM serves as a sophisticated emulation of the renowned Oberheim SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module) from 1974, recognized as one of the first self-contained synthesizer modules and the inaugural product to carry the "Oberheim Electronics" brand. This instrument gained notable acclaim through its use by distinguished artists and bands, including Lyle Mays, Jan Hammer, Joseph Zawinul, Supertramp, 808 State, Vince Clarke, and Depeche Mode.

Utilizing TAE® technology derived from the Oberheim SEM V software, the iSEM successfully replicates the distinctive sound and attributes of this iconic synthesizer, delivering an accurate and expanded touch-based experience.

USES
The iSEM is a versatile instrument capable of creating an extensive array of warm analog tones. By emulating the unique SEM architecture—characterized by oscillator sync, a distinctive filter shape, and a specific envelope response—the iSEM generates robust bass sounds that have contributed to Oberheim's popularity. Its intuitive PWM and pitch modulation features facilitate the creation of dynamic and engaging lead sounds.

The remarkable 12 dB/oct multimode filter invokes nostalgia while proving to be a powerful tool in contemporary electronic music production. This module allows users to craft sounds with varying characteristics—from fat and crisp to spectral textures—while exploring all subtle nuances in between.

Equipped with over 500 preset sounds for exploration and performance, iSEM also features an accessible interface for users who wish to design their own sounds. Musicians can play the broad range of presets directly from the iPad keyboard or control iSEM via a MIDI keyboard or external application using CoreMIDI, seamlessly integrating it into studio or live settings.

For owners of Arturia's SEM V software on Mac or PC, sound import/export capabilities between the SEM V and iSEM are available, enhancing workflow efficiency.
